There is an infinite number of tools and materials you can use to create a costume. This list is intended to give you a basic idea of the things you might need to get started. There are no “right” or “wrong” materials: use what works best for you.

  • Upholstery Foam (For head, feet and body padding)

  • Duct Tape (For patterning)
  • Good Sharp Scissors
  • Pet Clippers (For shaving the head fur)
  • Faux leather
  • Fleece (For the tongue)
  • Sculpy (For teeth and claws)
  • Zipper
  • Buckram (For the eyes)

  • Permanent Fabric Markers
  • Slip on Shoes (For the footpaws)
  • Sharpie
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Box Cutter (For cutting fur)
  • Pet Brush
  • BBQ Grill Scraper (For picking seams)
  • At home gym mats (Can be found at Walmart in the sporting-goods section)
  • Straight Pins
  • Mannequin head
